What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, to achieve a therapeutic response. It can be used to treat a number of conditions and diseases, including stress, tension, muscle pain and chronic headaches.
Massage therapy is designed to rehabilitate, maintain or improve physical function by performing manipulation techniques. Massage therapists are also trained in hydrotherapy and remedial exercise. The therapeutic effects of massage therapy benefit men, women, pregnant women, and the elderly and can provide relief from a wide variety of mild and acute conditions.
What are some of the benefits of Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy treats a wide variety of ailments and can help sufferers of chronic pain, such as those that have unresolved injuries. Massage Therapy benefits people with a whole host of physical conditions, from headaches to back pain. On top of that, it is also an effective coping strategy for those who are dealing with illness or emotional distress and/or part of your overall self care regime.
Massage therapy can be used in a variety of ways to rejuvenate the body and promote natural healing via the release and flow of toxins. It also reduces anxiety through deep breathing exercises and regulates blood pressure by increasing circulation. It promotes a general sense of well being, restoring the body’s natural rhythm.
A variety of techniques and modalities may be used to achieve optimal effects, according to your specific treatment goals.
Most private insurance plans cover massage therapy. MSI does not. Be sure to clarify with your provider what your coverage is before seeing our therapists.
