“I have sore feet. Can you help me?”
As a reflexologist, I hear this question a lot. What clients usually have in mind is a simple foot massage but reflexology is so much more than that! Reflexology is a practice that can dramatically improve your overall well-being. The answer is an enthusiastic YES, can I ever help you!
Reflexology is an alternative holistic therapy that enhances health and wellness. How do we do this? It’s a non-invasive therapeutic treatment applied to the feet using thumb techniques. The body is mapped on the feet and pressure applied to specific points will affect the organ or body part related to that area. Activating these key points can help to alleviate various health issues. So you may feel like you are getting an intricate massage covering every part of your feet, but it goes far beyond that.
Reflexology also helps to stimulate the flow of energy to all parts of the body. The technique helps the entire body and every system: endocrine, nervous, respiratory, circulatory, digestion, excretory, immune, skeletal and reproductive. In other words, reflexology can assist with numerous health issues such as
-stress
-tension
-improve circulation
-reduce inflammation
-improve sleep
-improve back/neck pain
-chronic pain
-headaches
-symptoms of fibromyalgia
-restless legs
The first thing I look at is what type of shoe you are wearing. Then I want to understand your experience of your symptoms and how it effects your life. Once I have this information I start working on the feet. We may discover other issues that may be related to your foot pain and in the process work on those issues as well.
Not only do you and your feet relax, reflexology can also be beneficial for foot ailments such as bunions, plantar fasciitis and heel pain. Reflexology helps the body relax and heal naturally. Not only do you indulge the feet-it’s a great technique for your general well-being!
